Ushahidi is a mapping project that is designed to document human rights abuses in post-election Kenya by encouraging users to report incidents of rioting, looting, rape, property loss, the massing of government troops, migrations of displaced people, and provisional peace efforts. It contains a number of discrete
components that involve using Google maps and SMS messages. Data can also be represented on a
timeline up through April of this year. David Kobia of
I Have No Tribe was interviewed by a local San Jose NBC affiliate about the project. Eric Hersman of
Africa Gadget and Ory Okolloh of
www.mzalendo.com are also team members in the initiative.
