Performance art traditionally has had somewhat limited audiences, by virtue of the fact that ephemeral performances can only be experienced first-hand by few. However, with YouTube, a body piercing artist protesting the slaughter of sharks in a London store window or a group of veterans in Times Square leading patrols and battle maneuvers that represent the brutality of interactions with civilians in Iraq.
