The En Route of the Problem
Today I am en route to ACE 2008, the ACM International Conference on Advances in Computer Entertainment Technology, in Yokohama, Japan.
There will be a number of Virtualpolitik-related papers at the conference, including presentations on the Virtual Guantanamo installation in Second Life, the gallery version of the interactive story Façade, and the conversation engine powering the ELECT BiLAT computer game for teaching negotiation skills to those stationed in Iraq. I will be giving a talk on Facebook games about politeness and fan activism in relationship to copyright conflicts and real money trading in game design.
