Cello, I Love You, Won't You Tell Me Your Name?
Speaking of remixes, cellist Yo Yo Ma has announced the winners of his remix contest at Indaba Music using the famed classical musician's solo track of Dona Nobis Pacem. The top two prizes went to an orchestration with hand bells and a heavy metal interpretation of the piece. It's worth noting that sampling with electronic equipment didn't garner the top prizes and that values involving traditional live performance and the integrity of musical pieces as collaborative compositions showcasing virtuoso musicianship was preserved.
