Shutter Bugged
As the inauguration approaches, BagNEWS Notes continues to provide excellent analysis of the rhetoric of photojournalism in this time of transition. One of the sites that they frequently reference is the Flickr site for Change.gov, which displays artifacts of visual culture from the official government website for the transition team of the Obama presidency on a popular third-party commercial social media site. Most of the images emphasize Obama's cabinet picks, public hearings, and press conferences, but there are also more intimate portraits, such as a series showing the Obama daughters on their way to the first day of school. And the tag cloud for the site, shown above, includes items like "pantry," "deli," and "food," along with the proper names and hot button headline issues that are journalistic mainstays.
